This week’s Fun Monday is hosted by its creator, Vicki at Catching Light, who never intended it to become a weekly carnival; she was just being nosey (in her words, not mine). Her chosen theme this week is the same as it was a year ago, with slight modification:
For those of you who did NOT post a picture of your view from your
front door, then your assignment is to post a view from your front
door. To do this you stand in your doorway looking outside and take a
picture. That simple. We (I) want to see what you see when you look out
your front door. For those of you who DID post your view, link back to that post you
posted a year ago, and then re-list your very first post ever. We want
to see how far you’ve come baby! Also, if you can, post the comments
you received on that post.
Here’s the link to my entry from last year’s "Front Door View". We’ve since had the rotten floorboards replaced on the front porch, the decking repainted to a charcoal gray, and the swing relocated to the other end (which I like much better).
And, here’s a link to my first post EVAH (oops, sorry to my first few readers, I accidentally linked to the whole archived page instead of just one post–maybe they were "supposed" to read that, ya know?). If you notice details, you’ll see I didn’t have any comments until my first blogiversary when I linked back to it. For the first six months I wrote, I didn’t give out my URL to ANYONE, and if I commented on other blogs, it was rare. It amuses me now to read those old posts–in spite of writing without any known audience, I wrote as if someone were reading.
It’s not surprising to me either that my first post was about having to make a decision…a topic I’ve managed to write about over and over and OVER!
If you’d like to see what other bloggers enjoy for their front door views, please be sure to visit Vicki for a complete listing.

I love your first Fun Monday post but I am in awe at your first ever post. How can people not believe in miracles?
I had not heard that song but I just downloaded it. Thanks.
Robin,
Thanks for the history about Fun Monday. Although I missed the first few Fun Mondays, I love these Monday challenges. Your first post like so many of your posts is compassionate and heartfelt.
Happy Fun Monday Anniversary, Robin.
When I went back to read your first post I realised that I had read it before. After the first few fun Mondays I did a lot of back reading. I don’t think I did a lot of commenting back then, I was a bit in awe of all you brilliant writers!
Wow that was truly amazing! Your first post didn’t have one single strike-through. How cleaver of you.
Sandy, YIKES! I accidentally linked to the whole archive page, not the first post; I figure maybe you read that post for a reason, ya know?
Molly, thanks for your kind words, but I think you read one from my first month, too…not the first one :/. Sorry!
Chris, now YOU’RE one of ’em!! 🙂
Willowtree,
thank youYou have such a nice yard and yard man!!!
it’s so fun to go back and see where we all began. me? i’m so new it’s not quite fair, but … 🙂
And the view out of your door is still the same ? My view hasn’t changed either besides the fact that I didn’t know FM at that time, lol !
I was the same way for the first 6 months or so on my blog. Afraid to give it out to anyone even though I wrote as if someone was reading it. I liked your first post!
I used to marvel at the Fun Monday subjects and challenges when I’d visit others and wonder just how to join…obviously I learned…but this history was a fantastic read!
Happy Fun Monday.
I don’t think I’d be able to leave your porch. I’d just need a giant diet coke and a pile of good library books!
Wow! your porch, your view, it’s all so open and inviting. It looks great when the sun isn’t shining, it must be glorious when it is. Enjoy…
Your posts crack me up – I love the linking and nesting and “mashed potatoes”!
I have porch ENVY!!! It is so beautiful!
I really enjoyed your first post. I am shocked that you went 6 months with no readers, kinda by choice but still.
Adore your porch!!
Heehee, you are ever so slightly mad, aren’t you?! But I just love your posts and especially the Martin Luther King one!! What a brilliant person he was!!
I love the view from your front door. Looks like your house is pretty high up on a hill, and makes for a cool view. And your first post ever? Pretty impressive. It’s been fun going through and seeing how people entered the blogging world.
Nice rockers- I can imagine sitting out there on an evening and drinking lemonade.
Your porch view is so lovely. The vision of sitting in a rocking chair, watching a sunset, sounds very relaxing too me.
LOL! Your post on choices, I thought you were posting about me there for a minute. I am exactly the same way. Don’t give me choices, they make my head spin.
Happy Fun Monday, Robin, and I blogged about your Big Snack Day!
Too bad you couldn’t have gotten a pic out the front door when it was snowing a little!!!
I still think you have one of the loveliest locations.
You have a beautiful veranda and view from there. It is funny how we all start out in our first post and how we change over time, yet somehow we are the same as we started, kind of like reading something we wrote at 12. I have some pieces from them and reading it I recognize me in it. I still don’t make sense;-).
I love both your first Fun Monday and your first post!! Your house is gorgeous and the view is too!!
Love the veranda and those rockers, it looks so peaceful where you live. And on the one post I clicked where you show your broken nail? I too have nails like that and when they break…ouch!
I love your views, breathtaking. And that first post has got to be the most talkative first post I have ever read! LOL. You haven’t changed a bit!
Now as for that voting assignment. I have managed to get in a few extras, you are currently coming third but I don’t know if I really helped as the votes are up over 1,000.
Oh I love your porch! And your yard, it’s pretty and peaceful there. Ah I would sit reading in that swing too too much. 🙂
Happy Anniversary! It’s been fun 🙂
I still love your porch!
