I thought dolls were supposed to be soft and cuddly and leave you wanting to play with them, not running away, arms flailing overhead, screaming with fright. I stumbled across the two of these at an antique store over the weekend and wondered, "Did anyone’s eyes ever behold these with beauty?"

Yeah, those are the kind you don’t want to meet in a dark alley!
They do look like they’ve seen better days – LOL! : D Too funny!
the second one isn’t too bad. Not something I’d cuddle up to but not overly scary. 😛 Happy WW!!
When I first saw your pics I wondered, “Why did she post these??? Your caption summed it up nicely and made me laugh. And I agree, who would buy them? Please tell me you didn’t rush back and purchase them!
Didn’t I see those things in a horror movie way back when? ;P
Happy WW!!
Wow, who did their makeup? Seriously, what a find! Were they expensive?
Those look like the dolls you see in musty dusty old antique shops, lol.
Happy WW! 😀
I’ve always found dolls like that a little scary;).
Oh wow. I am sooooo glad that you said what I was thinking about them being scary, especially the top one. Yikes!!
What a sad doll. The top one looks scary, like a white lady. 😉
Wow those are beautiful…But she look sad ehheheh…Thanks for sharing…..Mine is up too:
My Digital Snapshot
Let’s Laugh Together
It’s fascinating to think that children actually “played” with them. And what’s with the eye shadow??? Did they even do that back in those days? I’m starting to wonder if a drag queen got hold of them 🙂 Happy WW.
Lovely old dolls but I can’t imagine anyone playing with them, except maybe Nellie Olsen.
Ewwww. They remind me of that mannequin I posted. Maybe they’re her offspring. That’s even more creepy!
I think those are beautiful. Happy WW.
I was going to say they looked like smaller versions of Michelle’s mannequin. I think the cracked faces and the creepy eyes do a lot for the effect.
Not beholding any beauty over here! they are very creepy, I couldn’t sleep in the same room as them – shiver
makes me think of the dolly dearest horror movie, from my childhood! KInda evil..kinda creepy:) hehe
happy WW!
Nice blue eyeshadow.
I have a real, certifiable clown phobia and these two dolls qualify.
of course they did they are elegant:>
Those are freaky, almost like they’re going to start whispering – Twilight Zone!
I’m with you – those are scary dollies!
Oh, but think of the little girls years and years and years ago who dressed up these dolls and loved them and walked them in baby carriages. Think of the little girls who pretended with these dolls.
Dolls are like clowns…they freak me out!
They remind me of Geisha girls, and, yes, they’re freaking me out just a little. I, too, believe that dolls should be soft and play-with-able.
And if I want to invent chunks of slammed-together words, then I believe I ought to have the freedom to do so without fear of recrimination or prosecution.
I is a writer. Yes.
oh creepy! I not a fan of clowns either.
They remind me of the movie series The Puppet Masters. I loved those movies, yes I’m morbid! 🙂 The dolls scare me, can you help back out from under my bed?
Pretty cool pictures. Those dolls sure must be valuable.
My post: Clowns in stripes
I’m doing a late run today… Happy (belated) WW!
