Julie at Ooh, a Shiny Pen, provided a simple assignment for this week’s Fun Monday:
"Music plays a vital role in most of our lives. It is everywhere. I want to hear the ONE song that is you.
The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the
soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and
think of you.
The song I chose fits only part of Julie’s assignment–"…whenever it is heard, you smile…"–and I chose it because just yesterday in the car it came on the radio, I cranked up the volume and said, "Whenever I hear this, I smile!" How could I not post it? I don’t have a "theme" song, I imagine the only song, when played, friends automatically think of me is "Rockin’ Robin" (<—you might wanna click that link to enjoy Michael Jackson BEFORE his face exploded…or imploded…or whatever it did :/); but James Taylor? LOVE HIM! I’ve had the pleasure of attending two of his outdoor concerts at Atlanta’s Chastain Park, and although the ticket was a little pricey…it was well worth it.
This is a vintage cut of "Whenever I See Your Smiling Face", back in the days when JT had a full head of hair. Hope it makes you smile, too :).
It does make me smile. That’s a good thing because I feel like death today. And I’m at work-feeling like death. Not good.
she rocks in the treetop all the day long. hopping and a boppin and a singing this song. all the little birds on jaybird street.. love to hear the robin go tweet tweet tweet..
such a good song!
I love baby James Taylor and all his music. Smiling is my favorite activity! 😀
Oh jeez you’re right, that brought a huge smile to my face. I haven’t heard that song in ions!
Hey, that totally made me smile, it’s such a happy song!
Yes this fits as you always make me smile.
Michael Jackson was such a cute kid, it’s sad how things have turned out for him! Rocking Robin well that fits as well! so good choices.
James Taylor is a classic. Great choice.
My sister (13 years old than I am) and two of her friends took me and two of my friends to the Museum of Modern Art in S.F. when I was in high school. We (us three younger chicks) sang “Rockin’ Robin” all the way across the bay. Thanks for that memory, Robin.
And, JT? My gosh, so many memories. Smiling now…lol.
You were not kidding when you stated this was a vintage cut.
Great choice, Robin!
(I’m going to have Rockin’ Robin in my head all day, though!)
So many of my favorites today! I love James Taylor. When Caleb was a baby (sniff, sniff) I used to dance around the house with him to “Rockin’ Robin” and he would squeal with laughter.
James Taylor is just superb and I love his music! Great song!
Now I will always think of you when I hear Rockin Robin. I love that song anyway!
rockin’ robin does seem to fit you, but i will say that james taylor is a good choice any day of the week!!!
Ooh…I will have to remember that chorus and sing it to my kiddos as they come in the classroom in the morning. Usually I sing, “Good Mornin’! Good Mornin’! It’s great to stay up late…”
Now I have a new morning anthem in my repetoire. My students groan, but I know they secretly love it! : )
Ah, James Taylor. Swoon.
I started learning the guitar in 2007. One of the songs in the early part of the easy book is the most butchered version of Rockin’ Robin EVER. I know they need to simplify for a beginner who only knows two notes, but jeez.
Anyway, I like the James Taylor song, too.
Here’s my Fun Monday
What a great song and it made me smile to Rockin Robin!
It did make me smile. I love James Taylor.
I just love Rockin Robin!! Not a big fan of JT but that song is infectious!
You certainly are a Rockin’ Robin, but I like your James Taylor selection better. I bet everyone will leave your site smiling. But, I usually smile when we chat.
James Taylor is awesome. I saw him at some free benefit concert on the mall in Washington, DC a few years back and just melted when he played Handy Man. His son, Ben is pretty good too !
Ahh..I love James Taylor, I have always had a thing for him…I still think he is sexy today, bald and everything!!
yum! I love JT. I saw him too…I don’t remember where or when. Those days are a blur.
JT rules!
I love Rockin Robin. And, James Taylor knows how to belt out some tunes!
