Though I grew up in the era prior to the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act trickling down to affect me, I was always competitive.  I never played team sports, but I have two ballet trophies, a dance marathon trophy and a few table tennis loving cups (albeit plastic) to my credit.  I even have a cooking trophy somewhere.  Never you mind the ballet trophies were earned from the highest scores on a written exam, the dance marathon was "bought" from securing the most dollar pledges, and the ping pong wins were at summer camp.  And the cooking kudo?  A sympathy vote after I attached a card to my winning Pasticchio in Cream Sauce explaining I should win "not only because it was a delicious Greek dish, but because I used every pot and pan in my kitchen".

Like I said, I like to win, and I will use every (honest) weapon in my arsenal to accomplish the goal.

We grew up in a Mayberry-esque town during the 70s, and we could walk or ride our bikes anywhere without having to worry.  I was also a Girl Scout (though I don't recall having the type troup that actually worked for badges.  Hmmm.).

Once the best season on the calendar rolled around–"Girl Scout Cookie Time"–my competitive nature took over.  I wish I could remember the details, but I think our troop simply ordered a BUNCH of cookies rather than us taking just pre-orders.  That's the only thing that could explain how I sold the most cookies.  I strapped on a backpack, filled it with boxes, and started knocking on doors.  Not just our street, but the streets adjacent to ours.  We lived in a college town with fraternities and sororities housed in magnificent Southern mansions…and I marched up to those doors and knocked, too.  I'd reload the backback when rations were depleted.

That sounds so brave for an 11-year-old (I wasn't by myself, either my sister or best friend was with me…I'll have to ask).

I do remember an incident of getting lost in the Kappa Kappa Gamma house and accidentally walking out their fire exit, setting off an alarm; that shoulda sold a dozen more boxes.

That was the year I sold the most boxes in our troop, but sadly, there's no trophy for that.  Just braggin' rights with no way to prove it, sorta like the BIG fish that got away.

When I happened across this Blog Things this morning, all those memories flooded back and I HAD to find out what kind of GS cookie I am.  Do-si-do...my favorite.  I kinda like what it says "it says" about me ;).

What about you?

You Are Peanut Butter Sandwiches / Do-si-dos

You are easy going and naturally happy. You don't need a lot to make you smile.
You genuinely care about people and are a great friend. You're always doing your best to make the world a better place.

Even though there isn't an immature bone in your body, you still are like a big kid sometimes.
Why make life complicated when the best parts are actually quite simple? You enjoy the small joys of life.
