{Ugh…I can't believe THIS is my post in BlogHer's current post in their rotation :/. Don't you wish you could choose? PLEASE,, or or …! THANKS! LET ME KNOW YOU STOPPED BY VIA BLOGHER!!}}
Farrah was the poster girl of my youth–EVERYONE wanted that hair, and OH how we attempted second-rate imitation… {remember when this was the most controversial poster on the planet??}
And the King of Pop? My heart broke for the man he became, but for almost 20 years
his music reigned–
Those were my favorites.
I found this video of The Jackson Five on Andy Williams–how could you not love them back in the day?
For all their fame…celebrity…fortune…I'd chose the life I've been dealt over theirs every time.
Thoughts and prayers for their families for a peace that's not of this world.

It is very sad. I totally loved the Jackson Five, too. My mom listened to them a lot.

DITTO!!
(and I STILL want that hair!!) and yes I remember the good ol’ days when this was what was controversial–still not my cup of tea, but WOW have things changed!!
Remembering Michael Jackson
That poster was controversial? I guess I was too young to remember. It sure doesn’t seem like much by today’s standards. She looks rather wholesome, in fact. I’m impressed that her boobs appear to be her own and not some ginormous Pamela Anderson-like implants. (Can I say “boobs” on this blog?) Yet, normal-sized chest and all, she was the ideal then and I still think 70s Farrah is gorgeous, though only one standard of beauty. Okay, I’m going to stop now before I go off on a rant about all the things people do to themselves in the name of outward beauty and how little they focus on the things that really matter.
Isn’t it crazy that it was so controversial? Add that to tv shows Soap and Three’s Company – things that look tame by today’s standards. I was prepared to write about Farrah when MJ died and quickly changed gears. If you had to make out a list of the top people or things that have come to signify the 80’s – Farrah would be near the top of that list. She became a cultural reference. She reinvented herself in the 80’s and became relevant again and her fight with cancer was done with grace.
Just as MJ, she is gone way too soon, but she made the most of her time and we should be forever grateful.

I liked Farah too, but I am really sad about Michael what an artist and performer ! I saw him life in Brussels in 1988 together with my son who is a big fan of him; Imagine, he had booked for the concert in London _
It certainly is a sad time. There have been 3 losses this week. I love Michael in the early years…the years of Billy Jean, Thriller, Bad..And Farrah..I tried to get the Farrah Feather with my hair! Funny that the poster was controversial…She’s clothed on that more than someone on the cover of Glamour now!
Sweet tribute. I grew up in the 80’s and I think this is so sad.
I keep telling the Lord: “Just TRY me with wealth! You’ll see, I could do so much good!” But, you’re right, Pensieve, my life had to be easier than theirs–will all my troubles and with all their wealth! Thanks for the perspective. It is sobering to see icons pass (as we all must do!)
They were both huge icons back in the day, weren’t they? I think of the life choices both made… Wow.
Last night I was sick – running a temp, achy, laying in bed. A “documentary” – I think that’s what you’d call it – of Farrah’s battle with cancer came on. You know, I was impressed by her humility, her honor of God, and her commitment to staying – well, fairly balanced. I can’t imagine having been in her position – who can? I don’t think I would have made some of the lifestyle choices she did – I’m a little too afraid of God! 🙂 But all in all, it wasn’t a bad show.
I won’t get started on MJ. Okay – maybe a little. All I can think when his name is mentioned is “egomaniac” – maybe I’m wrong.
Anyway – what a wild week, celebrity wise, huh?
