{Warning…this video is graphic…I wasn’t prepared for what I saw. My two-fold response? a) How dare I ever complain about anything, and b) What can I do to help?}
How can I we just forget about it now that I we know this exists…?

Oh that breaks my heart. Those tears and that pain. If only we would all commit to doing SOMETHING, no matter how small, to help another human being … it WOULD effect change, wouldn’t it?
Struggling through trying to find what I can do HERE while I’m in India. How does one choose to wisely use their time, resources and talents?
Watching made me cry those poor children.
Thank you for sharing this.
So Sad. 🙁
Oh, man. Thank you for sharing.
Painful to watch…in so many ways. Thanks for sharing.
This is so incredibly sad – when most who see this have more shoes in the bottom of a closet…
Robin – FYI – I’m going to Haiti in February – mission trip for The School of Mercy.
Oh.
Oh. my.
Wow.
Oh Robin, thank you. Thank you for sharing… for being that voice.. thank you for having the heart of a lion and the grace of a queen.
Oh, Naomi…you have the tenderest heart. I so agree with you–every effort MATTERS! I’ll pray for you to have clarity and direction…and I NEED to see what you’re up to! I left a piece of my heart in India!!
xo
Me, too, Chris…:(
I saw it, Katja…and I wanted to show it to the world. I guess I’ll settle for a few readers (thankful for your timing to catch up).
ditto…
So glad I found it to share, ya know?
I know it hit you much the way it affected me….
Martha…oh! Tell me more!!
(the truth of your comment hurts though!)
Rachel…you bless me…always 🙂 xo
if given shoes… will they wear them?
Did I miss that in the video, Will watch it again — how sad and how wonderful that those people are there trying to be helpful and supportive.
The truth of my comment hit me in a tough spot. I’m like Carrie Bradshaw with my shoes. So maybe my Haiti trip is penance…
My church opened a school in Haiti last year. We need to establish a multi-year plan with goals, priorities, etc. The children currently don’t eat during the day – combination of no kitchen facilities as well as no household income to finance bringing lunch.
I’ll be taking as many tennis balls, uninflated soccer balls and reader glasses as I can. I’ll keep you posted.
That’s incredible — that something that horrible could happen, and it’s just LIFE for these kids. 🙁
Do you know anything about the 410 bridge project? (The people who made the video.)
I am planning on doing a Giving Gift Guide this year instead of the Gift Guides everyone is putting together – I will be looking into this organization for inclusion. Thank you so much for sharing this. It just gives you pause and hopefully, gives you motivation to act. It is easy to change the page but I am unsure the sight of those poor children suffering will leave my memory for some time.
You’re right; I had NO IDEA. It’s unfathomable and my heart breaks for them.
God bless those who are giving of themselves to help these precious souls. Maybe because of the caring of this mission group, God will replace those awful chiggers with His redeeming love and grace, and they will come to know Him in a personal and everlasting way for that cleansing is just as needed as the de-chiggering.
We try to give to childrens charities every year. Its just so hard to pick where to give because there is so much need all over the world. We did spend one year a few years ago sponsoring a child monthly and he would send us pictures, it was really neat. I would love to start that again.

I wonder, Pamela…shoes are a rarity and I would think they’d hurt those pitiful feet. When I see stuff like this–especially post-India–I wanna go. Help. Do. Love.
And I know I can in my “backyard”, but even our most impoverished areas are rich in comparison.
I can’t imagine that life, Amy :(. It breaks my heart!
No, I don’t know anything about the 410 Bridge Project, but I like what I’ve read…I plan to get to know them a bit better!
Kari, PLEASE keep me posted on your Giving Gift Guide! I’m working with a group on something similar (well, that’s just one facet) and it’s the kind of thing you want to get in as many peoples hands (or inboxes) as possible!
Wonderful idea!
My memory? Yeah…she’s full of those images, too :(.
You can’t help but seem an image of Christ serving those He loved…and their feet were just dirty.
It makes me cringe. I was not gifted with the skills it would take to be a nurse, to do something like that, let alone watch something like that. It’s incredibly uncomfortable for me to watch, because of the graphic nature – but more than that, uncomfortable at the thought that with a little water and some shoes they wouldn’t be suffering like that – things that we have plenty of. It’s hard.
Robin, I saw this post yesterday and was moved without even watching the video; the comments alone spoke volumes to me.
So later in the day, when I clicked through to Compassion’s blog to watch this video, I was stunned to see the name 410 Bridge. Check out that link and follow the link to Compassion’s … um, link to 410 Bridge. Amazing stuff that God is doing around the world.
