I missed a smashin’ great concert Friday night–Winter Jam–featuring one of my favorite bands (Christian or otherwise), Third Day. Mac Powell’s instantly recognizable gravely vocals always grab my ear, even if it’s a song I’m hearing for the first time. If you haven’t yet listened to the entire Revelation CD
, do yourself a favor and buy it now…it’s that good.
I might’ve missed Winter jam, but my teenage daughter didn’t.
Impressed with Third Day, her one-sentence review of their set was, “They’re as good in person as they are on their CD.” If you’ve been to any concert, you know that’s high praise.
While she returned home with a new appreciation for Third Day, however, she was smitten with Tenth Avenue North. If it wasn’t for the fact lead vocalist Michael Donehey is already a husband and father, she’d allow for an arranged marriage. After she and her friends waited to meet the band post-concert, he told her he liked her coat–“It’s purple-y!”–and anyone who can quote is definitely marriage-worthy in our household!
It’s a privilege for me to introduce their music to you if you aren’t already familiar, and if you are, let’s enjoy it again and again. Lyrics provided below to stack the blessing! {Visit for a series of “Behind the Scenes” of their lives and music…a fantastic feature to include to engage your fans!)
Why are you trying to earn grace
Why are you crying
Let me lift up your face
Just don’t turn away
Why are you looking for love
Why are you still searching as if I’m not enough
To where will you go child
Tell me where will you run
To where will you run
And I’ll be by your side
Wherever you fall
In the dead of night
Whenever you call
And please don’t fight
These hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you
Look at these hands and my side
They swallowed the grave on that night
When I drank the world’s sin
So I could carry you in
And give you life
I want to give you life
(Chorus 2x)
Cause I, I love you
I want you to know
That I, I love you
I’ll never let you go.
I love Third Day!
Great lyrics.
Hugs!
that tenth avenue north song took me through one of the darkest periods of my life a few months ago…and pointed me to the One who was there…by my side.
they served as an instrument and for that I am eternally grateful.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful song. I like Third Day but I’m not familiar with Tenth Avenue North.
What a awesome song!!!
LOVE that song!
This is one of my favorite songs. We got to go to Fayetteville’s Winter Jam 2010 on Saturday. Third Day was awesome as expected! 🙂
Oh! I’ve heard that song; I just didn’t know who sang it. Third Day has long been a favorite of mine too. Them and Todd Agnew and Skillet and more.
Winter Jam is coming to my city in a couple weeks, and I’m really hoping to go. I LOVE Tenth Avenue North, and this song always gives me chills. And the fact that Michael Donehey quoted Elf makes me giggle–how cute! 🙂 I think it’s amazing that these awesome bands are coming together for such an affordable concert.
