I catapulted out of bed faster than if one of my children had screamed and curdled blood–how could I not move faster than sound when God "commanded" me by spectacular incentive to JUMP??? I caught a glimpse outside my bedroom window….
Sunrise lit the sky on fire and my attempt to capture the flames ~
…only begins to confine them. "Nobody puts Baby in a corner" and I'm afraid it's almost impossible to confine the majesty of sunrise to a digital image; at least I'm sure I'm not skilled enough.
But that sure doesn't keep me from tryin'…:)
I love sunset, too, but I'm partial to sunrise. Day is born. Possibilities are endless. It's like a life mulligan every 24 hours.
Your turn: What's your preference–sun rising or setting? Do you have pictures to link?
Bonus: Soaking in the beauty of the morning, I was reminded of a song we sand in my (public) school an era ago, "For the Beauty of the Earth"; I've copied the lyrics below, perfect companion to these pictures. To listen to a lovely recording, check out Track 12 from the Barlow Girls. I feel like I'm in second grade again :).
For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.
For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.
For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth, and friends above,
Pleasures pure and undefiled,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.
For each perfect gift of thine,
To our race so freely given,
Graces human and divine,
Flowers of earth and buds of heaven,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.
For thy Church which evermore
Lifteth holy hands above,
Offering up on every shore
Her pure sacrifice of love,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.
what a beautiful way to start my Sabbath. Thank you so much for posting this today!!!!
beautiful photos of a spectacular sunrise–I’m sure it was even better in person.
I forgot that hymn–the words are filled with gratefulness. I had never noticed how beautiful that was…thanks for posting it. I just sat here singing it–great way to start Sunday!
Gorgeous! I don’t usually get up in time to see the sunrise. ;0) Thanks for capturing it on camera so I can share it, too. =)
Wow, thank you for sharing these pictures and for the reminder! I am alway up early, and also awake for the sunset. I do not usually take time to see either. I get so busy with life that I don’t stop to appreciate the beauty. Thank you for the reminder.
Rick
Ohhhh, I am SO with you and a sunrise girl….but in this season God’s shown me some amazing sunsets and well I do love both!!
Here’s a post with some of my favorite pictures: http://bahava.wordpress.com/2010/02/17/life-is-a-work-of-art/
beautiful!
amazing shot Robin.
Now see, I’m torn. I love the dawning of a new day.
But, sunsets are so beautiful and fiery and soothing. There’s something quite precious about another day being put to bed, we’ve made it, we survived another day, we’ve finished another gift.
A beauty to the completion of another gift, the blessing of another day put to bed, another day granted to us by Our Father.
I love it all. Sunrise or sunset, if I’m here to see them, I’ll gladly revel in the glory that each is.
That hymn has always been one of my favorites…love hearing about the love that has been ‘over and around’ me since birth!
Wow…that is beautiful, Robin. I’m not sure which I love better. We’ve had some outstanding sunrises and sunsets in Missouri. My problem is I’m not caffeinated enough in the morning to catch the beauty in action. However, I really loved this sunset that I caught a few months back:

The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for circumstances they want , and if they cannot find them .they make them.Do you understand?
This is a serious problem around the world and we should take conscience with the situation and care our planet, ’cause if we didn’t in a few years our countries are going to be worse than now.
