Tiggerlane is in charge of this week’s Fun Monday, and here was her assignment:
I wanna see your CAR! It can
be your current car, the first car you ever had, maybe your first new
car with that new-car smell, a car you wrecked once, or even the dream
car you would drive – given all the money in the world! Oh – and if you
have a truck, SUV, lawnmower, whatever the local authorities allow you
to drive, let’s see it!
I told her I didn’t like this theme, but when all was said and done, I had fun with it in spite of my camera battery dying RIGHT when I tried to take the first photograph and the longer-than-I-would’ve- liked-it time frame it took me to locate an old photo!
This is my current car v a n. Sexy isn’t it?
Here’s an inside shot…at least I’m past the stage of ground-in Cheerios….
On the console between the seats, you will always find a "car" book, waterbottle…and usually receipts or trash. Sometimes change. On happy days, chocolate 🙂 (on the happiest of days, UNMELTED chocolate). Underneath, is where I USED to "h i d e" my pocketbook before my car was broken into :/. Now, I’m a stinkin’ slave to my purse and I have to carry it everywhere. The thieves stole more than my purse….
B u t……..if I could have a car that was just my own without regard for kids or practicality, what would it be? I wouldn’t want extravagant…or even brand new…
Okay, not able to TOTALLY divorce myself from practicality and my concern for all things green, I might get one of these. This commercial was totally offbeat to me, but Kermit makes me smile and with the price of gas these days, seems like a good choice.
Of course, then there’s the sportier side of me–the wildchild wannabe–and these fun little rides would do the trick…
Okay, so they aren’t so wild, but I’ll NEVER be a biker chick…it’s just not how I’m wired (I saw a guy get hit on a motorcycle when I was a teen, he flew over a windshield :/…enough to seal the deal for me).
One of my best friend’s dad back in highschool had one of these…the nostalgia in me would love to have one to re-live those glory days…. "….that’s when a smoke was a smoke/and groovin was groovin/and dancin was everything/we were young and we were improving/laughin laughin with our friends/holdin hands meant somethin, baby…" ** sigh **
The more (ahem) adult version of me would want one of these…I guess it’s the "safety girl" in me…closest I’d ever get to driving an armored vehicle…
Which reminds me, here’s a vehicle I will N.E.V.E.R. own (never) (nope, never, not even if I won one on a game show)….it just r e e k s of "overcompensation" for some kind of "inadequacies"…that’s all I’m sayin’…you’re welcome to infer whatever you’d like…:
Last, after looking through a mile-high stack of old pictures that have yet to be sorted, I found this in a whole ‘nother stack (hehe). It’s a picture of me washing my first car, a 1981 (?) Cutlass Supreme…I LOVED that car, she served me well through college, working in Atlanta, and shortly into marriage a few years later. I’m not sure if I was doing this in the picture, but for a while I would wash it with a TOOTHBRUSH! Not all over, but to get those places and spots that wouldn’t come off easily with a chamois. This is a perfect example of "take a picture, it’ll last longer" because I promise you this, THAT was VERY short-lived!
Be sure to visit Tiggerlane to see everyone else’s rides du jour :).
I used to do the same thing with the toothbrush (stress – used to). Too funny!
Have a good week!
I loved my first little car so much. A friend of mine took one of those wire brushes, I think they use on grills and “roughed” my carpet back up. Looked brand spankin new. Coll trick to know when selling a car.
Thanks for particpating – and not whining, too much!
I love those new bugs – I really want one for the kiddo – I think she’d look cute in it. Great post!
I’d quite like a beetle as well, my granny had two and my dad had one.
Your current car is very neat and tidy. I like the look of those convertables!
If you look closely at the photo of the middle floor in my van , I tried so hard to vaccuum up the ground in cheerios, but it proves to be a very hard thing to do.
I actually like the red SAAB.
It was an Olds Cutlass that I drove from Toronto to Ft Lauderdale that time.
Was that a Pontiac convertible?
Great pics! I too am not a biker chick. I seen a motorcycle under the trailer of an 18 wheeler. Enough said there.
Sometime when you have time, grab Kermit and let’s go for a spin in his car.
Oh, yes, many a classmate had a Cutlass Supreme. Great first car.
I like your van’s seat–easy to wash off! Lots of food messes here.
I see we both like Beetle convertibles. 🙂
What a great post! I love that commercial with Kermmy in it!!
awwww.I love Kermit. I want him in my pond.
Yesterday our good friend had his 11 year old out on their new motorcycle and went down. The boy is fine. Dad was in surgery all yesterday afternoon for mangled leg. I was just over at their house letting their dogs out – after work.
No. No motorcyle for me either.
So, this may be a bit of cheating, but considering I’ve done a post on this a year ago, here you go.
I like the “classic” ride!
My first car was a 1970 Ford Mavrick, but now I’m slowly learning how to drive the Corvette
Oh these are great photos.
I’d choose the Saab convertible. And yep, that would be my grown up self choosing.
Great post 🙂
The interior in your van looks comfy! I look forward to the days of not having cheerios, etc in my car.
I agree the hummer seems to reek of overcompensation
Hi Pensieve!
Just stopping by via Karmyn’s blog to say hello.
Ian
Nice rides. I did not have that many cars in my life, but I do have a heck of a mental wishlist**LOL**
Great and fun Fun Monday post. I like all of your pictures. Like you, I really can do without a Hummer. I would not mind driving around in those red convertibles.
Robinella…good tip!
Beccy, y’all are teeming with infestation! 😉
Christine, it’s a losing battle.
WT, it’s a Delta 88 (Olds).
Swampy, I wanna go for a ride in YOUR car 😉 😉 ;).
Pamela, confirmin’ what I already know….:/.
Mike…when I get caught up? Will that EVER happen :/??
LCO, are you serious??
Thanks, tob :).
My4Kids…I kinda got called out on that….
Ian, Welcome and Thanks!
Robocop, wishful thinkin’ serves its purpose.
MJD, great minds, sweets :).
I cannot believe you used to clean your car with a toothbrush!! wow!! that was dedication! Your kermit vehicle makes me think though, you can get a normal car with the same MPG!! At some point, they will have to come up with something better, don’t you think???
serious about a clunky old maverick? or my fil teaching me to drive his corvette – like the one I linked / did link to?
