THANK YOU to everyone who chimed in in comments or on Twitter; I decided to go with the first picture based on your input and because the warm colors remind me of the cool season. :)
This week's challenge for Secret Agent Mama's "Picture it Outside of the Box" is "bokeh." Because I can't make a blasted decision, and because readers were helpful last time, I thought I'd solicit your opinions to help me choose.
Do you mind telling me your favorite below and why? Sometimes it really helps to see an image through your eyes!
I agree with Mishi–these ARE bokehlicious!
They’re all remarkable in their own way, but I’m going to have to go with what’s behind door #1 because it’s the one most likely to prompt a visceral reaction. And isn’t that the whole point of art?
It’s also dynamic, that you know the scene didn’t exist mere seconds after the shot was taken. The same can be said for the other insect-themed shots, but this one seems unique in its level of surreal goodness.
And the depth of field is sublime. The others, lovely as they are, just don’t move me as much as this one does.
Not that I like spiders or anything, but I really like the first picture because…
1) It’s unusual, not something you could capture everyday (photographically speaking, I mean)
2) I like the warmth of the colors
3) I like the diffused leaves in the background.
The spider. It looks like something from another planet – an alien out for a stroll among the giant trees where he’s contemplating his upcoming vacation to some blue and green planet far far away that supposedly is rich in delicious carbon-based lifeforms.
It’s a clear winner so far.
anybody can do flowers and bees
crabs are just mean nasty and not so worthy – and scary
the berries and snow are nice
second place to the birdhouse – the snow is sitting in all the right places
but who can take a picture of a spider,
straddling a leaf and hard cold concrete
and turn it into art?
the spider FTW
My favorite bokeh shot is probably the second one because it is so clearly bokeh. But I really do love the first shot. The clarity and focus on the spider is wonderful.
Definitely the second one if you’re talking about bokeh, it just says more than in any of the others and is sort of the star of the photo. If you were just talking about shallow depth of field, I’d say the spider because that’s where the focus is. But since we’re talking about bokeh, you gotta go with the photo where the bokeh is the best. Also, I like saying “bokeh”.
That spider shot is amazing. AMAZING.
They’re all pretty fantastic, Robin xoxoxo
that daddy long leg bokeh is amazing
