The longest I’ve ever waited in line – was either at a theme park OR in a grocery store in Jackson, Alabama (talk about S L O W)
The most I’ve ever spent for over retail…hmmmmm….That’s a hard one because I usually won’t buy things unless they are sale!! – or I wait until they are a little older then get them when the price goes down. But – probably spent too much on our couch and loveseat (had a little bit of buyers remorse, but am happy now that we have them)
I stood in line for about 4 or 5 hours for a signed copy of Deliver Us From Evil by Shawn Hannity. I use to listen to him but have since experienced burn out in regards to anything in the political/network news/media arena. Anyway I stood in line that long partly because I promised one of my customers that I would get him a copy as well.
I paid MSRP (retail) for a 1999 Honda Odyssy? when they first hit the market. A dealer in Louiville KY tried to get me to pay $1500 over MSRP because of this secret high speed under coating and scotchguard seat protector but told him he was smoking crack. I called a Columbus GA dealer who was getting MSRP with a 3 month waiting list. I did not have remorse for paying the asking price for that vehicle but it did pain me because I love negotiating.
1) the line to board the ferry, to go out on the bay & watch the Blue Angles
2) I think the only thing I’ve ever paid over for is an auction I won at a fund-raiser — no buyer’s remorse there, I wanted the item & the $ was for a good cause.
Related: This over-pricing is part of why we don’t own a home. I refuse to go into debt until the year 5050, for a shoebox that will be a pile of rubble after the next quake (getting off the soapbox, now).
A) longest line was definetly at Disneyland and probably and hour and a half. No
B) I can’t recall right now. Buyers remorse. YES. Everytime I look in my billfold.

I think it is nuts that people stand/camp/lay in line to purchase a silly gaming device. I think I can spend $500-$700 better – like on a getaway with my Sweetheart *grin*…

A) A one and a half hour wait through the security line in Orlando….with two little rambunctious boys. We made it home all in one piece so it was definitely worth it!
B) I didn’t pay over retail for this item, but it was a little splurge for my daughter’s 2nd birthday. I purchased a $200 kitchen set off of e-Bay. The seller turned out to be a scam artist who had stolen someone’s identity. So basically, I transferred $200 to a thief. I haven’t purchased anything from e-Bay since.
i am one of the infamous Target campers, joe. we waited in line for 40 hours for the playstation 3. yes, it seems quite ridiculous, absurd, whatever. the point is, we bought playstations for $600 but they’re already on eBay, and the average going price right now is $3000 (yes, that’s the correct amount of zeros). in my opinion, time well spent, and a fun story to tell friends.
The longest wait I recall is 3 hours, to vote in November 2004.
I don’t think I’ve ever paid above retail for anything. I won’t even pay the retail price.
Longest line was to a spook walk in October. Was worth the wait. Was way scary.
Purchased over the retail value… hmmm. I’m thinking on that one.

Karmyn & Kila, I’m a bargain shopper, too, a definite aversion to paying retail for anything. I do remember my dad paying about triple the ticket price for a “very important” college ballgame back in the day :).

Yuk, Susan, on the eBay thing. I’ve had lots of luck buying stuff, and only one “sting”…a bootleg copy of a video, NOT the original as promised. When I went back to the seller to complain…POOF, no longer in business :(.
