December, 2007, our back yard. Please meet Old Red, Blackie and Little Red, taking a little break from a thousand hours of raking. I found out in a round-about way my children had named our rakes, discovered when they were fighting–yes, fighting!–over Old Red. Believe it or not, two named rakes didn't make this shot: Pete-the-killer-steel-rake and Big Bertha.
I wonder if naming them makes the work more fun?
Check out the new Wordless Wednesday HQ!!

How funny, I think it’s great they named the rakes. You have alot of rakes, I have alot of leaves, do fancy coming over with your rakes?

are you telling me that THIS is your big announcement??? that your children named their rakes???
Yes naming always makes things more fun. I’d want Blackie though he looks cooler!
If the tree falls and the rakes have no names then the tree makes no sound. Naming them makes sense to me.
Give me rakes, lots of rakes…..don’t fence me in!
Your announcing that you named your rakes?
For some reason, that reminds me, I’m mailing your “garage prize” today.
Watch the mail…something other than Publisher’s Clearing House will be at your front door.
That should be “you’re”…and to think I taught language/grammar/English once
upon-ce a time.
I’m with Laurie and Swampie. I laid awake all night awaiting big news and I get the Rake family!?
That is pretty cute.
Hooray for rakes!!!
Cool picture, and I also loved the fact that you have come up with names for your rakes. I bet they have distinct personalities too!
My post is here. Happy WW!
I need one of those..geessh we have a lot of leaves out side..;)
Happy WW! mines here
See! I’m not the only one who likes to name things.
Rakes? In December, when there’s over a foot of snow on the ground? Oh, duh, you don’t have the snow. Rakes? Named? What have you done to your children?
I want to see Pete! 🙂 Cute shot!! I think it makes it more fun to name things too!
hilarious! I think it’s great that they are named. And…I feel your pain or I should say I felt your pain cuz I left my leafy yard and I’m back in my no yard condo…
Send them on over to our house (the wind blew everyone leaves into our already raked yard)
What fun to name the rakes: now I’m wondering if I name embee’s garden tools if it will encourage him to use them more!!
So, your kids name their rakes? Do they have imaginary friends, too? Are their imaginary friends named after tools? Huh? Are they?
Too funny….my kids name things too. Our phones are George an Little John…..okay…..
Happy WW!
That is awesome that the kids named the rakes! LOVE it! I can’t wait for mine to be old enough to do stuff like that!
Leaves? Those things that fall of trees? Haven’t had to rake leaves since I left the south. Now I shovel snow, and I like it! 😀
Nice display of color. Things we’d never take notice of normally look different when photographed. Of course rakes with names tend to get some attention…photographed or otherwise.
