Just thinkin’ about summertime in the South opens my salivary gland floodgates! Oh my ever-lovin’ word–watermelon and cantelopes, squash and okra, home-made ice cream and ice cold sweet tea? Until I got to those last two, you’d almost think I was a health nut!
For this week’s Friday’s 40-or-less Photo Challenge, here’s a delicious capture from the family reunion we attended last weekend–a vat piled high with Silver Queen corn! I’m pretty sure I could eat my weight in it, but we’ll have no estimating of how many ears that would take.
Instead, what thoughts come to YOUR mind when you gaze longingly, lovingly at my preciouses below? As with every Friday’s 40, you have 40 words (or less) to tell a story in response to the weekly photo prompt. Don’t linger too long, just go with a natural response to your visual queue–a caption? a title? poem? shortshort story? word association? You’re only limited by word economy :).

You’re welcome to post the photo on your own blog and invite your friends to join in…it really is interesting reading all the varied perspectives from the same photograph.
Be sure to check back here on FRIDAY to link your post. We gotta know where to find you! 🙂
Hmmm! Very inspiring my dear! Not Karismas cup of tea but my Bookfairy is much in love with this food! Maybe I will dedicate something to her??? Hmmmm????
Dear robin. Yum yum. I say, where’s the butter, salt and pepper? And the stick, to stick up its… bottom?
I used to vacation in central Mexico in a place called Oaxaca (it’s pronounced Wa-Ha-Ka’).
Grilled corn in the open air market. They would slather it with mayo, and then roll it in chili powder and cheese. Heaven
I can practically hear the kernals pop in my mouth.
Is that how you spell kernal? It looks wrong.
We just had some corn on the cob last night! Yumm!!
Oh, hey there! Didn’t know you were there. Why? Because I’ve been busy trying to find my Land-O-Lakes tub of real butter with the green lid (instead of the red) that’s mixed with canola oil for spreadability. I’m ready to melt it on and sink my teeth into these yellow, plump, juicy babies!!
oh, robin. you KNOW i’m not allowed to talk about corn …….
Yum!
lol!!
When we eat corn we have a “family race”. Whoever sees it first (the next day) wins. We are a sick bunch!
