The good kind…

And the not-so-good, skin-crawling, dance the "heebie-jeebie promenade" kind…

Alligators aren’t the only things at Kiawah that leave you lookin’ over your shoulder….;)

WHAT kind of spider IS that? {{{shivering}}}
EEEWWWWWWW! I’ve never seen anything like that on Kiawah. That face will indeed give me nightmares. Yuck!
::delurking::
OH.MY.HELL.
{doing the freak out dance ’cause something just touched my foot!}
::relurking::
what a beautiful spider….
**yes, i love spiders, they’re very mystical to me, and though i don’t want them dropping on my head or in my shoe, they can be pretty on a web in my yard/deck**
bambi’s raspberries, funny 😉
That is the kind of spider that makes you not want to run blindly through the neighborhood unless you are wearing full protective gear.
Well actually, I think he is rather good looking as far as spiders go! I would be running in for a closer look!
What are you doing getting that close to that spider, it looks creepy dangerous! I think you endangered your life for a blog post. Not sure we’re worthy 😉
As I’m looking at these I just figured out something. Seeing as you DON’T have your Nikon with that 200mm lens and you only have a point n shoot now with what, a 3x zoom???, you had to get CLOSE to that spider. I’m just wondering how close. Cause I don’t know if you know spiders or not, but that particular type can leap about 8 feet in any direction at any given time. Especially when startled. But you were further than 8 feet, right?
So did I freak you out? I must confess…I made it up. I have no idea what kind of spider it is nor it’s leaping capabilities! I’m sure it’s completely docile and just wanted to be pet. 🙂
Ha! I’ve heard that a deer blowing raspberries at you is either:
1. a mating sign
or
2. a sign of good luck.
Here’s to hoping for option 2!
:0)
That spider is creepily fascinating~ it does look lethal not sure I would want to get up close and personal with it!
Those golden spiders DO look freaky, but they are harmless to humans. Sometimes they are called banana spiders (not sure why). They show up when it is HOT, and eat about 5 times their weight in bugs. Mosquitos are their favorite food, so golden spiders are tops in my book!
Kim, see Kelly’s comment above. THEY’RE “GOOD” SPIDERS???!!!
Shelly, they’re there…they’re always “there”!!!
themotherboard, now YOUR comment just cracked me up! You must de-lurk more often!!!
EJ, a c t u a l l y, I like ’em, too. As long as they’re securely web bound!
Karmyn, you woulda died if you saw how close my hand was to it…I was using a point and shoot in macro mode…no zoom to speak of!
Karisma, see comment above. I was centimeters away from it. CENTI-FREAKIN’-METERS!
That Girl, A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G. for the blog!
Robert, YES your first comment freaked me…I was close enough for that little devil to reach out and touch me!
Tracey, ME TOO!!!
Chris, according to Kelly (below you), they’re “good” spiders (r i g h t 😉 ).
Kelly, if they eat mosquitos, I shoulda caught some and brought ’em back to TN…I’ve got the bites to prove it!
Holy Cow! I will not be able to sleep. Spider IN the house = getting hubby’s work boots. Spider outside = lucky.
