A collection of sites I like, links I love & sometimes cool things to see or do.
This week my list is comprised almost entirely from discoveries made through StumbleUpon. Wikipedia explains: "SU is a discovery engine…that finds and recommends web content to its users. Its features allow users to discover and rate Web pages, photos, and videos that are personalized to their tastes and interests using peer-sourcing and social-networking principles."
12 Iconic Magazine Covers You'll Never Forget via Mashable
World's Most Beautiful Trees ~ I looked specifically for Angel Oak, 1) its majesty testifies to the existence of God, 2) we've been there! If you look closely, you'll see my babies–ants beneath her boughs.
40 Maps That Will Help You Make Sense of the World curated by Twisted Sifter. We realized how ego-centric the US is when we lived in Germany last year; the Metric System map explains why (but the rest tell a very interesting story of our world….)
Stately Sandwiches ~ it's exactly what it says: a sandwich representing every state. Do you think yours represents? Out of the three states I've lived (Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee), I think I'd choose the simplicity of Georgia's–a pimento cheese sandwich. For me, it'd bring in a taste of SC; my favorite pimento cheese is actually Palmetto Cheese!
The Look ~ it's a short poem by Sara Teasedale. I don't know if I liked it because it includes my name and a nickname we call my son, or because I loved its last two lines so much.
Look at this Instagram ~ Oh, my…if you haven't seen this Nickleback parody of Instagram, it's spot on. I was extremely impressed they made it family friendly until the 2:14 mark, where there's one stupid profane line it would have been perfect without. If you're on Instagram, you're going to realize how pedestrian we all are!

I've saved the best for last: two must-read Around/About additions from Ann Voskamp & Logan at Life for Dessert.
How to Have the Best Birthday, the Best Today, the Best Any Day ~ Ann celebrated her 40th birthday, beautifully and unconventionally, in a way that splattered blessing all over her, her family and every one they came into contact on that special day. A lovely call to Be the Gift, a precious lesson in paying it forward and a way to may any day memorable, 40 or otherwise.
Give Hope for Freeset! Most everyone has heard about the devastating plane crash near Birmingham, the one that took the lives of its pilots and destroyed a UPS shipment. Please read Logan's post about additional loss, and what you can take part in a Pure Charity project to help (indirectly) women's rescue out of human trafficking.
Your turn: Share your favorite links of the week–yours or otherwise!
And DO make plans to share a link to your hometown's favorite restaurants on Monday when we begin our weekly look at Love Where You Live!!
{Feel free to grab the graphic to use in your post or sidebar!}
The Instagram video was hilarious but I didn’t read your description until afterwards…
Oh, my word – Ann’s post was extraordinary! I’ve saved it to use for my upcoming birthday – what love in those pictures. And the Instagram video? Perfect for our “society.” I follow a blog, & every Friday get an email with her “week on Instagram.” We’re just a LOT too self-centered these days.
