Oops! Here I Go Again: 3 Things I Don’t Want You To Miss

Surprise–back to back posts! I’ll be brief, but each of these things is so important to me (for very different reasons), please DO read to the end.

My (in)courage post, a $10 “They’re Real” Benefit Deal, and Great News for Hope(full)*Writers

Can You See What I See?

Today’s (in)courage post was inspired by several conversations I had while on our annual business retreat, primarily because Patricia Raybon challenged me to write about what I have been learning for a while now.  I genuinely hope you’ll read the post and then let me know how it stirs your own thinking. If you’ve never thought that yours is a privileged position, I urge you to pray with an open mind and ask the Holy Spirit to help you to see what you might have previously been missing. Not that I’d dare to be your holy spirit…! Don’t miss the comment thread, either. The readers who have already chimed in this morning are one of the best reasons I’m glad I wrote Can You See What I See.

Get! Out!! $10 for up to $90 worth of make-up and beauty items including Benefit’s They’re Real mascara? Please and thank you!!

I’m a little embarrassed to be touting yet another subscription box service because I’m not exactly a beauty blogger and I don’t want to bombard you with crap you don’t want. I know how this stuff goes. But this deal includes Benefit’s They’re Real mascara, my actual mascara of choice, the mascara I hate paying $25 for but keep coming back to, despite trying other brands friends recommend. Nothing has come close to the wearability of They’re Real, and I begrudgingly shuck out that money time and again (mind you I’m perfectly happy with drugstore blush and lipsticks and glosses). While supplies last, new subscribers can sign up for  Allure’s monthly beauty box and receive top-trending, editor-tested makeup and beauty picks with a $50-$90 value for only $10 for 72 hours (less, because I’m posting after the clock started ticking). After this month, boxes are $15/month

  • Full and deluxe products selected by Allure experts (we test more than 50,000 products a year)

  • A mini-mag with tips, shortcuts, and step-by-steps

  • New member gift: A bonus gift valued at $10+ This is what you’re getting if you sign up pronto:

  • Free shipping

I’m curious to try Allure’s beauty boxes and see what surprises land on my doorstep each month, but mostly I’m excited to get a killer deal on Benefit mascara. They dangled a carrot I couldn’t resist!!

Hope*writers is opening membership next week. Wanna know why I love it?

For those who aren’t familiar, hope*writers is an online community whose sweet spot is encouraging writers at every stage. This means beginners and well-seasoned writers have access to new information; hope*writers has a resource library with content and video from a broad cross-section of professionals–editors, agents, published authors, book marketers, publicists, strategists, and more.

But why I love it most (beyond my longtime affections for Emily Freeman and Myquillyn Smith, sisters and two of the four co-founders), is the smaller circle of writers with whom I’ve connected who are in the same stage and season of writing as me. Their encouragement, experience, and friendship has been incredibly impactful. Plus, at the end of the day, I consider the monthly cost a professional investment that has added real value to my work.

If you want to find out the moment they open the doors for membership, click any of the links that interest you below, provide your email, and they’ll follow up over the days to come.

Around/About: The “Help Me, Help You!” Edition

Around-About - Week of November 10 2014

A collection of links I love, sites I like, interesting reads and sometimes things to do.

For the first time, I’ve actually been skimming some pre-Black Friday ads. Holy Toledo–there are some CRAZY/incredible deals too good to ignore! Who knew? The best ones I’ve seen within my affiliate network are listed below. Two things to keep in mind about clicking through a blogger’s links: 1) it costs you NOTHING extra and 2) it helps them earn a little money for the referral (I wrote a whole post to explain affiliate advertising if you’re interested).

In fact, you’ll be my best friend FOREVER if you click through this link for Amazon (<–bookmark it for later!) any (every??) time you shop year-round. I’ll earn pennies on your purchase, and I promise, I have NO idea who buys what (I only can see what items are purchased, never the purchaser’s information).

71889Ann Voskamp’s Greatest Gift Collection is a beautiful follow-up to her NY Times best-selling book, 1000 Gifts.  The book’s companion Jesse Tree paper ornament set is very affordable at $29.99; but the stunning resin version has been out of reach for many until now. Today through November 16th you can save 40% ($120!) by clicking my link and using the code 40Days. Actually, you can use that code on any single regular price item, but if I were you, I’d choose a pricier item (and if it’s over $50 after the discount, shipping is free).

Weekend-Sale-DayspringCheck out DaySpring’s early Black Friday deals that begin 11/17 with savings up to 70% off! Be sure to check that link weekly because they will be adding additional Markdown Specials throughout the following two weeks leading up to Cyber Monday.

Amazon is getting a head start on Black Friday deals, too. It’s amazing how much you can save if you’re paying attention (these don’t last forever, and new deals populate often).

Zulily-logoIf you’re a fan of Zulily, they’ve got some wonderful things coming up, so be sure to subscribe for those specials.

Now, on with today’s Around/About–

18 Disney GIFs That Totally Nail This Parenting Thing. Courtesy of Babble, this is fantastic! I can’t decide which is my favorite, but the Ba-Gina and Girls Nights Out are contenders. What’s YOUR favorite?

The Conversation Bloggers Are Having About You. If you aren’t a blogger, this will probably be of little interest, but the wonderful Laura Tremaine, aka Hollywood Housewife, asks questions that beg answers for those of us who’ve been around a while. She’s given me pause, that’s for sure.

If These Walls Could Talk. ManOHmannymanman, THIS makes me wish I hadn’t gotten rid of the outfit I had on when Tad asked me to marry him. I kept it for YEARS because, at the time, I loved it, and later, I was sentimentally attached. Lysa TerKeurst is BRILLIANT for framing her special dress.

What You Should Tell Your Teen (and Yourself) About Kim Kardashian. My friend Annie tried to break the internet with this one. It’s a strong word for women of all ages, helping all to sift through the insanity of our selfie/exhibitionist culture.

256px-Clemson_University_Tiger_Paw_logo.svgSix Mile’s Famous Roadside Clemson Fan. If you’re a Tiger fan, you’re nursing a broken heart this season; so much hope in freshman quarterback sensation Deshaun Watson, only to be crushed with his injured finger then knee a few weeks later. But this feel-good story about W.T. Wooten will help everyone else to understand why we never, ever, never, ever give up on our beloved Clemson Tigers. There’s something magical about the place.

Screen Shot 2014-11-15 at 2.46.10 PMAnd last, but hardly least, have you seen Grace Table yet? Mammamia it’s fantastical! The brainchild of Kris Camealy, Grace Table is “a space for sharing stories about food, faith and how these things connect us to the world beyond our front doors.” I’m thrilled to join their wonderful team of writers. Spend some time knocking around the place–with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, you’ll be glad you did.

YOUR turn: DO share what you’ve been reading or writing–I’ve been “real life” BUSY so tell me what I’ve missed online!!

Your skin will never look better. Your pocketbook will never be happier

Posted by on Jul 25, 2011 |

Sizzlin_Summer_TheSkinny_Ad_15-20 No one could have been more surprised than me to try a skincare product that made a difference the first time I tried it.

But when I was asked to partner with Theraderm, first to host a Face 2 Face event in Chattanooga, then to write for their beauty site, The Skinny (mostly about inner beauty), I had to know whether or not it delivered what it promised.

Family members and friends commenting on, asking about and complimenting my skin was all the proof I needed; but a glance in the mirror confirmed it.  My skin tone has evened out, pores are minimized, under eye lines are slightly minimimized…and I'm a believer in Therapon Skin Health.

If you've ever been curious about trying Therapon but shied away because of the pricetag–it *is* a cosmetic grade skin care line, but at much more affordable pricing than its high priced competitor–TODAY is the day you MUST buy some!  Starting at 8:00 am this morning, Therapon will run specials EVERY HOUR, most with a 50% savings!

To be eligible for this unheard of savings to celebrate Cyber Monday in July, LIKE Therapon on Facebook, then click the Cyber Monday in July tab

Note:  Though I am a Therapon affiliate, I will not benefit from any Cyber Monday sales; neither is this post compensated.  But my favorable experience with the product makes me wish everyone would try it at least once, and if it works as convincingly for *you* as it has for me, you'll be hooked for life!
